Islamorada

The Open Ocean

Beginning at mile marker 89, Islamorada is known as the “Sportfishing Capital of the World”. This area features properties large and small with ocean views, tennis courts and tropical landscaping. Palm trees line beaches of a few of these resorts. Marinas in the area are home to both fishing and dive boats. A marine attraction and Long Key State Recreational Area are in this district. The area’s diverse sportfishery, amidst the open ocean and mangrove island-studded bay, hosts a number of annual fishing competitions.
